According to NTV Spor, West Ham are going to scout Attila Szalai throughout Hungary’s EURO 2020 campaign.
What’s the story?
Well, the Turkish news outlet believe that West Ham will keep a close eye on the Fenerbahçe colossus over the next month.
NTV Spor add that West Ham are expected to make an approach for the 23-year-old once the tournament is over.
Sadly for Szalai, it doesn’t look like he’ll have much fun with Hungary.
The West Ham target will be facing Germany, France and Portugal in Group F, all of whom are arguably among the favourites to win EURO 2020.
However, this could actually work in his favour.

Up against the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé and Thomas Müller, Szalai will have plenty of opportunities to show West Ham just how good a defender he is.
What type of player is Attila Szalai?
You might not know much about Szalai, as he’s quite young and also plays in the Turkish Süper Lig, a division not widely covered by any means.
However, what we can tell you is that he’s been nicknamed the Hungarian Virgil van Dijk, which reflects pretty well on him to say the least.

Van Dijk is arguably Europe’s best defender, so if Szalai is anything like him, West Ham have identified a fine target.
As First Time Finish detail, the centre-back has earned the comparison due to his towering stature, as well as his rapid pace across the ground.
Unless Szalai has a disaster at EURO 2020, keep an eye on this saga with West Ham expected to make a move once the tournament ends.
