West Ham United are reportedly pushing to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez.
According to The Mirror, West Ham United are ready to activate a £13million release clause in the contract of Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez.
The Hammers are yet again in desperate need of a new striker, having seen signings from last summer such as Simone Zaza, Ashley Fletcher and Jonathan Calleri fail to provide the necessary goal threat.

For the second summer in a row, manager Slaven Bilic will now be focusing his attentions on signing a new striker, and he could look to bring a former Premier League goalscorer back to England.
The Mirror report that West Ham are pursing a deal for Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez, and are preparing to activate a £13million release clause in his deal to bring him back to England.
Hernandez, now 29, is best known for his spell with Manchester United, where he hit 59 goals in 157 games following a 2010 switch from Chivas Guadalajara in his native Mexico.
The striker did have a loan spell with Real Madrid during the 2014-15 season, scoring nine goals before being sold to Bayer Leverkusen, where he has endured his ups and downs in front of goal.

Hernandez smashed 26 goals in 40 games in his first season with Leverkusen, but could only notch 13 goals in 36 appearances last term, as – much like at United – he couldn’t match the return from his first season.
With West Ham looking for goals though, they could look to bring poacher Hernandez back to the Premier League, and they would be banking on him finding the net on a regular basis as they allegedly prepare to snap him up for £13million having been watching his performances for Mexico at the Confederations Cup in June.
