Report: West Ham to offload African duo in January, Liverpool starlet Dominic Solanke is ideal replacement

David Moyes has to do something in January to give West Ham United fresh impetus and could do a lot worse than look to Liverpool.

West Ham are facing an uphill battle to beat the drop after making their worst ever start to a Premier League season.

With just 10 points from their opening 15 games and tough back-to-back London derbies against Chelsea and Arsenal to come, things are looking bleak.

The Hammers know they must add to their squad in January to give themselves a fighting chance of survival.

Reports on the likes of well placed Hammers site Claret & Hugh have been circulating that wantaway striker Diafra Sakho and bit-part player Andre Ayew will be on their way if West Ham receive satisfactory offers.

That will all add to the kitty for Moyes who will be looking to strengthen at both ends of the pitch.

Liverpool outcast Daniel Sturridge has long been linked with a move to East London.

But West Ham have enough injury prone players on their books as it is and need to look to younger, hungrier players – a policy which was serving them well in the transfer market before a baffling change of direction.

So Moyes should instead look to Sturridge’s Liverpool teammate Dominic Solanke, who is desperate for game time to try and impress Gareth Southgate before next summer’s World Cup.

And that desire to perform well could be just the youthful enthusiasm the Hammers need not to mention his obvious ability, pace and power.

With Liverpool boasting an array of attacking talent Solanke is way down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp and a loan deal for the rest of the season could suit all parties.
