Lanzini’s current contract at the London Stadium expires in the summer of 2020, but the Sun reported back in August that West Ham are desperate to extend that with the Argentine arguably the best player at the club.
Somewhat surprisingly the midfielder earns around £30,000-a-week at the moment, but the East Londoners are prepared to more than double that to £85,000-a-week to keep the 25-year-old at the club.
How big a deal is this?
It could be argued that securing Lanzini’s long-term future would be the biggest deal the Hammers complete this summer, such is the South American’s talent and influence on the side.
The Argentina international was once again linked with Liverpool last month by Goal as they seek a replacement for Philippe Coutinho following his January departure to Barcelona.
It shows just how highly Lanzini – who has three caps for his country to date and could well play at this summer’s World Cup – is rated in the top flight of English football and therefore West Ham keeping him would be quite the coup.
