Watford have reportedly made a move for Brentford striker Scott Hogan.

According to The Guardian, Watford have offered £8million for Brentford striker Scott Hogan – and West Ham United are expected to match that bid.

Hogan, 24, featured in non-league football with the likes of Woodley Sports, Mossley, Stocksbridge Park Steels, Ashton United and Hyde, whilst he even played alongside Jamie Vardy at Halifax Town.

After 19 goals in 40 games for Rochdale, Hogan moved on to Brentford in 2014, but missed around 18 months of playing time through injury – and has set about making up for lost time at Griffin Park.

After seven goals in seven games towards the end of last season, Hogan has now hit 14 goals in 25 league games this term, becoming one of the Championship’s most dangerous strikers.

Now, The Guardian report that Watford have offered a deal worth £8million for Hogan, which includes £2million in add-ons, with Walter Mazzarri’s Hornets desperate for an attacking spark.

Not only is Roberto Pereyra out long-term through injury, but Nordin Amrabat is heading to the Africa Cup of Nations with Morocco, Isaac Success has made little impact, and both Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney are struggling for goals, meaning Hoganis desperately needed at Vicarage Road.

However, the report adds that West Ham United have also set their sights on Hogan, and are expected to match Watford’s bid for the striker having approached Brentford earlier this week.

Slaven Bilic has seem summer signings Jonathan Calleri and Simone Zaza flop in East London, with both players yet to score, and Hogan has been eyed up as a player who can bring goals to the Hammers side.

Get West London recently reported that Brentford are demanding £15million for Hogan, meaning both Watford and West Ham may have to increase their bids for the striker.

The Guardian’s report also states that, whilst Newcastle are also keen on Hogan, the striker only intends to make a Premier League move, leaving the Magpies out of the race to sign him right now.
