According to a report from Marca, West Ham have agreed to loan Sead Haksabanovic to Malaga for the coming season with Manuel Pellegrini apparently proving to be the driving force behind the deal.

Haksabanovic only joined the Hammers last summer. The 19-year-old made two appearances for the first-team last term, but is still awaiting his Premier League debut for the Irons. And some supporters may have expected that league debut to come fairly imminently.

The midfielder was arguably one of the finds of pre-season for Pellegrini’s men, so it may surprise some fans that he looks set to spend the next campaign out in Spain with Pellegrini’s old side.

According to Marca, Pellegrini decided that a loan move would be best for the teenager’s development and contacted Malaga directly regarding a potential deal. They have reportedly decided to take him and a move now looks set to be finalised.

It must be added that Marca notes that no future fee has been inserted into the deal, with the Irons reportedly excited about Montenegro international’s potential. His medical is set to take place on Sunday.

Haksabanovic will be hoping to help Malaga secure promotion at the first time of asking this term. They finished bottom of La Liga last season five years after Pellegrini took the side to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. With the club clearly close to Pellegrini’s heart, an inspired season with Malaga could perhaps be exactly what the youngster needs as he looks to make the grade at the London Stadium.
