West Ham United are still hoping to sign Stoke City’s Joe Allen.

According to Sky Sports, West Ham United aren’t giving up their pursuit of Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen, despite allegedly failing with a first approach.
The Hammers beat West Bromwich Albion 2-1 at the London Stadium on Tuesday night, with Andy Carroll’s last-gasp winner giving David Moyes a crucial win.
Moyes and co remain in a relegation battle though, and it seems that he will be looking for reinforcements during this month’s transfer window.

Given that Mark Noble’s influence is waning and both Pedro Obiang and Cheikhou Kouyate have been inconsistent this term, a new midfielder appears to be a priority.
ESPN reported on Tuesday afternoon that West Ham have failed with an offer for Stoke City’s Joe Allen, with the Potters unsurprisingly reluctant to let one of their key players leave.
However, Sky Sports report that West Ham aren’t ready to give up their pursuit of Allen just yet, and may return with a new move for the former Liverpool midfielder before the end of the month.

The 27-year-old starred last season with six goals in 36 Premier League games, and whilst Stoke have struggled so far this season, Allen has still been one of Mark Hughes’ most important players.
Given that both teams are in the relegation battle, Stoke may not be keen to sell Allen to a rival, but with questions over the future of manager Hughes, West Ham may be looking to take full advantage.
