West Ham United are reportedly hoping to keep Declan Rice at the club.

According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United are set to offer Declan Rice a new contract, believed to be worth around £25,000-a-week in a bumper new deal.
The Hammers have been famed for their academy products over the years, and whilst that slowed down over the years, defender Rice is showing that West Ham do still have some talent in their ranks.
Rice, 19, joined West Ham from Chelsea back in 2014, and has been coming up through the ranks with the Hammers over the last four years, and now has more than 20 first-team appearances to his name this season.

Now, it’s believed that Rice is to be offered a £25,000-a-week deal, a huge increase on his current wages of around £10,000 as his displays under David Moyes are set to be rewarded.
A defender to build around
The London-born Republic of Ireland youth international, who can also play in holding midfield, has impressed fans and pundits with his displays this season, and looks set to be a star of the future.

Given that James Collins, Angelo Ogbonna and Winston Reid are all experienced veterans, West Ham have needed to find a young defender to build around – and Rice could just save West Ham a lot of money.
Jamie Redknapp even compared Rice to John Terry in the Daily Mail back in December, and if the teenager can get even close to the levels of the former England captain, West Ham will have a defender to build around for the next 10 years.
A new deal for Rice would almost certainly go down well with fans, and after focusing on signing experienced players in recent years, West Ham are wise to prioritise the future of a top young talent.
