West Ham United are in danger of losing out to Southampton in the race to sign Adam Armstrong, the Daily Express report.

West Ham are believed to have an interest in the Blackburn Rovers hitman, as David Moyes looks to strengthen his forward options.

His price-tag could drop by £4 million to £16 million if an offer comes in.

But West Ham are currently lagging behind Southampton, who have moved quickly to secure a deal.

The Saints are said to be eager to land the front-man and already opened talks over signing him.

That could leave West Ham trailing behind Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men in the race to sign the 24-year-old.

A worry?

West Ham do have other potential options to fill the void, but the latest news may spark some concern.

Armstrong does seem to be on their wishlist, and if he joins Southampton before they have a chance to make a move, it will put pressure on Moyes to land one of his first choice targets.

Armstrong hit 28 goals in the second tier this season, and everything suggests that he is now ready to make the step up to playing for a Premier League side.
