West Ham United are reportedly keen on Sporting CP midfielder William Carvalho.
According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United are launching a club-record bid of £25million for Sporting CP midfielder William Carvalho – and hope to strike a compromise over the fee involved.
The Hammers have focused on bringing in players with Premier League experience this summer, as Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez have all arrived to boost Slaven Bilic’s squad.

However, Bilic may still look for new faces before this month’s transfer deadline, and an injury to Cheikhou Kouyate may mean that West Ham dip back into the market for another midfield powerhouse.
The Daily Mail now claim that West Ham are launching a huge move to sign Sporting CP star William Carvalho, with a club-record fee of £25million being mentioned, eclipsing the fee paid for Arnautovic.
However, it’s noted that Sporting have regularly been frustrating to deal with regarding Carvalho, as they usually demand the £39.5million release clause in his contract, with West Ham hoping to strike a compromise on a fee of £25million.
Carvalho’s agent is Pere Guardiola, the brother of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, and West Ham hope that they can get the Spaniard on board to broker a deal to take Carvalho to the London Stadium this summer.

Carvalho, 25, has come up through the ranks with Sporting, and has now become a key player for the Portuguese giants, with more than 150 appearances to his name whilst also becoming a Portuguese international with 37 caps racked up so far.
A powerful holding midfielder with a superb passing range, Carvalho would represent a huge coup for West Ham having been linked with a host of top European clubs throughout his career, but whether they can convince Sporting to sell in the final weeks of the transfer window remains to be seen.
