West Ham United are reportedly plotting a surprise move for Cardiff City defender Sol Bamba.

The Hammers are currently having to deal with a number of players being sidelined due to injury, and with time running out on the January transfer window, it appears that Moyes is thinking outside of the box in his attempts to bolster the squad.

Bamba has been fantastic for Cardiff this season. His form led to boss Neil Warnock claiming earlier in the month that he was a better defender than £75 million Virgil van Dijk – as reported by the Star.

Nevertheless, it would be absolutely no surprise if the Hammers fans were completely underwhelmed with the links with the former Leeds United defender given that he should be reaching the twilight of his career and is yet to play in the Premier League.
And given his importance to the Bluebirds and their promotion bid out of the Championship, it would be no surprise if Cardiff demanded a significant fee for the defender before they let him leave – especially as they would have little time to find a replacement.
