The Swansea City player has been linked with a move to West Ham United and now his price tag has been reported.
According to a report from French publication L’Equipe, West Ham United will have to dig dip if they want to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson as a replacement for the unhappy Dimitri Payet.
As confirmed by Hammers boss Slaven Bilic last week, the French international is seeking a move away from the London Stadium, and while West Ham do not wish to sell it may be in their best interest to do so rather than keep an unhappy player at the club.
According to L’Equipe, West Ham have identified Sigurdsson as the perfect replacement. However, it is being reported that Swansea want at least £26million to get a deal done this month.
That is a sizeable fee, but if West Ham can get a good price for Payet from any one of his suitors it would be a sensible swap.
After all, Sigurdsson has Premier League experience in abundance. He scores and creates for fun and he is unlikely to throw his toys out pf the proverbial pram as Payet has this season.
The Iceland international has scored six goals and provided six assists already in this campaign, and during his time at Swansea he has found the net 33 times and assisted 23 more.
He is one of the few players currently in the English top flight that would be a viable replacement for Payet. But Swansea know that, and if he does ultimately head to West Ham he will not come cheap.
