West Ham United have struggled this season to fill their right-back position. Sam Byram has taken time to adapt to the Premier League and the list of players who have attempted to fill the role this season is long – with Cheikhou Kouyate and Havard Nordtveit just two players to have had a go.

Now it seems West Ham have a more long-term right-back target in mind for the summer, with Colombia international Santiago Arias.

Voetbal Primeur is reporting that West Ham and Bayer Leverkusen are both hoping to buy Arias from PSV Eindhoven this summer, after being impressed with his performances for both club and country.

The report also explains that Arias has told the Dutch club he wants a move abroad this summer, with England, Germany or Spain his desired options.

The 25-year-old, who has 32 caps for Colombia, will not come cheap considering his quality and age.

However, West Ham are desperate for a long-term solution to their right-back issues and will hope the former Sporting Lisbon full-back can be the man to cement his place in the role going forward.
