Alfie Mawson could leave Swansea City for £20million with West Ham United reportedly interested.

Alfie Mawson could be available to sign from Swansea City for £20m this summer, reports the Guardian, with Southampton and West Ham United both keen on the defender.
This is despite the fact that only two months ago the Times suggested that it would cost £40million to land Mawson from the Liberty Stadium.

Why the drop in price?
According to this latest report there are three key factors in this new valuation of the 24-year-old. Firstly, Mawson wants to leave the Swans following their relegation from the Premier League.
That drop to the Championship also means the South Wales side are in a less strong position when it comes to negotiating with prospective buyers.

Finally, the fact that Mawson has recently had a minor knee operation means the centre-back definitely won’t be included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia and is still yet to earn his first senior cap.
The Mirror has recently suggested that Everton, Leicester City and Watford are also interested in the Swansea star, but Tottenham Hotspur are currently not in the race – even if, as expected, they lose Toby Alderweireld in the coming months.
