According to The Guardian, West Ham United are targeting a late deal for Slavia Prague right back Vladimir Coufal.
It’s claimed that Coufal has been picked out as possible cover at right back given that West Ham have lost Ryan Fredericks to injury.
They have looked at a number of right back options, and the links to Coufal have re-emerged having been linked by The Independent in July.
Since then though, Coufal has signed a new contract at Slavia until 2023, claiming that he wants to stay with the club for as long as possible, presenting a major problem to West Ham’s hopes.
Coufal, 28, scored three times in 27 league games last season, and he has already bagged three assists in five outings this term.
A Czech international with eight caps and two goals to his name, Coufal has an impressive attacking record, but is also solid defensively.

Moving for Coufal would be reminiscent of the January deal for Tomas Soucek, in terms of raiding the Czech market – and specifically Slavia – in search of Premier League quality.
Soucek has been a roaring success for West Ham, so it’s no great surprise that they’re looking to find another Soucek, this time at right back.
The new contract signed just last month is an issue though, as is the fact that West Ham have just six days left to secure his signature.
