According to The Sun, West Ham United are interested in snapping up Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan – but he would cost £20million.
It’s claimed that West Ham are casting their net far and wide in search of a new centre back, with a host of options on their radar.
Simakan is the latest, having shown real promise at Strasbourg, which has seen him linked with a whole host of clubs in recent months.
The 20-year-old is allegedly valued at around £20million, which is some way short of the prices West Ham have been quoted for Burnley’s James Tarkowski and Saint-Etienne ace Wesley Fofana.
Simakan also played as a right back last season, which may come in handy given that Hammers right back Ryan Fredericks is now out injured.
The Frenchman can fill in there if needed, but would predominantly be a centre back moving forward as West Ham look to solidify moving forward.
Simakan stands at 6ft 2in tall, and possesses great strength and aerial ability, whilst being quick enough to recover defensively and get forward if used at right back.
Having failed to land Chris Smalling and Rob Holding, Simakan is now a very real option for West Ham, and a name for fans to keep an eye on as the defensive search continues.
