West Ham United continue to be linked with Sampdoria forward Gregoire Defrel.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, West Ham United remain in talks with Sampdoria about a deal to sign striker Gregoire Defrel this month.
The Hammers look set to lose star striker Marko Arnautovic this month, with The Sun reporting that a move to Chinese side Shanghai SIPG is close.
West Ham arguably already needed a striker even if Arnautovic stayed, so their efforts to sign a new forward are being intensified this month.
One name linked earlier in the window was Sampdoria’s Defrel, and Tuttomercatoweb claim talks between West Ham and the Serie A side are still ongoing.
It’s added that Fulham and Watford also remain in talks, but Atalanta have dropped out of the race for now as they attempt to resolve the future of Papu Gomez.
Defrel is available this month after Sampdoria raided Southampton to sign Manolo Gabbiadini, and it looks like a Premier League team will benefit from that deal.
Defrel, 27, has hit seven goals and one assist in all competitions this season, having joined Sampdoria from Roma over the summer.
The Frenchman will bring pace to the West Ham attack, though he isn’t exactly a like-for-like replacement for Arnautovic, so if the Hammers do sign Defrel, expect to see another front man come in.
