TuttoMercatoWeb claim West Ham have tabled a two-year deal to lure Dejan Lovren back to the Premier League from Zenit St. Petersburg. The defender is considering tearing his current deal up, which lasts until 2023.

Lovren, 32, joined Zenit in the summer of 2020 from Liverpool after seven years in the Premier League – six at Anfield, and one at Southampton. He has since added a Russian title to his name, and Zenit remain first this term.

It was the fourth title of his career, after winning the Premier League at Liverpool and two Croatian titles with Dinamo Zagreb. Despite Zenit sitting top and five points clear, though, he could tear up his current contract.

The current situation in Russia has Lovren considering his future and may look to terminate his deal. West Ham are ready to take advantage, and are said to have tabled a two-year contract to land Lovren until June 2024.

West Ham table Lovren deal: Smart signing from Moyes and Hammers

With Angelo Ogbonna injured, Craig Dawson getting on and Issa Diop hardly providing the consistency needed in a side pushing for the top four – Lovren is an astute addition, especially on a free transfer.

West Ham need additions at centre-back and David Moyes likes his defenders to be powerful, strong in the air and a threat in both boxes. Lovren ticks all those boxes, and has the experience to boot.

It would be a solid signing, with West Ham looking more than likely as though they will qualify for the Europa League next term.
