Italian website CalcioMercato report that West Ham have tabled a £34million bid to sign Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca. Talks intensified this week over a move for the Italy international, as the Hammers look for a forward.
Scamacca, 23, has thrown himself onto the radar of bigger European clubs this summer after starring for Sassuolo in Serie A last season. Playing 36 of his side’s 38 league games, he found the back of the net 16 times.
The 6ft 4in striker has even become a regular with Italy’s national side, earning seven caps – though he is yet to score. Previous reports state that Paris Saint-Germain are leading the race, with Arsenal also showing interest.

- Robin Koch an unsung hero at right-back in Leeds’ final games of 21/22
But the latest claims from CM state that West Ham have tabled an official offer worth £34million to land Scamacca. The Hammers are very keen to add competition in the final third, alongside Michail Antonio.
West Ham have tabled bid to sign Scamacca
Scamacca fits the mould David Moyes will want. Antonio is so crucial to West Ham’s identity. His ability to hold the ball up and bring Manuel Lanzini, Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals and more into the game is pivotal.
The striker is lethal in the penalty area, works hard for a target man and is effective in both boxes from set-pieces. If the Hammers can get the striker for just £34million it is a brilliant bit of business.
But with PSG also interested, the chances are that West Ham will have to pay slightly more than that. Indeed, previous reports suggest Sassuolo want a fee of £43million to consider selling their “high-level” star striker.
