According to t-online, West Ham have made an offer for St Louis FC Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel as they look to improve their transfer network.

The German left Düsseldorf to move to the United States back in August, although he could already be on the move again.

T-online state that the Hammers have submitted an offer to Pfannenstiel, having placed the 47-year-old at the top of their list to fulfil the role.

Inter Milan, Besiktas and Newcastle have also been mentioned as possible destinations for the former goalkeeper.

Pfannenstiel – who became the first footballer to play in six different continents – has an interesting record when it comes to scouting talent.

As revealed to talkSPORT by himself, the former Huddersfield glovesman was the man who found Liverpool’s No.9 Roberto Firmino.

As quoted by The Sun, the German said: “Yeah, £3.5m roughly. If you’re getting a guy from the second league in Brazil, only 17 – 18 years old, straight away people think he needs to play in the first-team directly.

“I think it’s good scouting, definitely.”

As stated, Pfannenstiel discovered the Brazil international when he was only a teenager, and managed to bring him to Hoffenheim for just £3.5 million.

Eventually, the Bundesliga outfit ended up selling Firmino to Liverpool in a deal worth £29 million.

To make a £25.5 million profit on a player found in the Brazilian second division takes some doing, and can be regarded as excellent scouting from Pfannenstiel.

If he can do similar business for West Ham, then bringing the German to the London Stadium might prove to be a very shrewd move.
