The Premier League side have not given up on signing the striker until January.
Wilfried Bony
A report in the Daily Mirror has claimed that West Ham United still want to sign Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony on loan, even after completing a deal for Simone Zaza.
The Mirror reports that the Irons have landed the Juventus forward after agreeing a £25m deal with the Old Lady – though the move is yet to be confirmed by the club – but with a host of issues surrounding their current attacking options, Slaven Bilic does not appear to be finished yet.
Simone Zaza has completed his £25m move, according to reports.
The London Evening Standard reports that the Hammers hope to have summer signing Andre Ayew back amongst their ranks by December after he sustained a thigh injury, while the Mirror adds that Andy Carroll is out for around six weeks and Enner Valencia may be on his way out of the club this summer with Aston Villa interested.
West Ham manager Slaven Bilic
Those issues have forced Bilic to maintain an interest in the former Swansea star. Though the Mirror claims that there is every expectation that the 27-year-old will move to China in January, West Ham are keen on taking him on loan until the end of the year.
As a short-term option, Bony would arguably be a good addition to the Hammers’ squad. Though he has not been prolific since moving to the Etihad, he proved during his time with the Swans that he can score regularly in the Premier League, which is surely what the club needs while they wait for Carroll and Ayew to make it back from injury and while Zaza and fellow summer signing Jonathan Calleri settle in to their new surroundings.
