West Ham United are reportedly lining up a £1.5m move for Mahlon Romeo.

According to The Mirror, West Ham United are preparing a £1.5m bid for Millwall youngster Mahlon Romeo after watching him in action on Saturday.
Romeo, 21, started his career with Arsenal, but didn’t make the grade with the Gunners, and joined Gillingham at the age of 16 back in 2012.

The right back made just one appearance for Gillingham in almost three years with the Kent club, but he did enough to earn a switch to League One rivals Gillingham in 2015 – and he hasn’t looked back since.
With 18 appearances last season, Romeo established himself as a first-team regular under Neil Harris, and has already played 16 times this term as he continues to impress in League One.
West Ham’s London Stadium
His displays appear to have caught attention though, as The Mirror report that West Ham United sent a scout to watch Romeo during Millwall’s 2-1 home win over Fleetwood on Saturday afternoon.
The Hammers have had problems at right back this season, with youngster Sam Byram in and out of the side and Alvaro Arbeloa looking like a shadow of the player that featured for Real Madrid in recent years.

That prompted manager Slaven Bilic to switch to a 3-4-2-1 system with Michail Antonio in a wing back role, and that would certainly suit the pacey, attack-minded Romeo should West Ham land him.
Bilic’s men are reportedly lining up a £1.5m for the Antigua and Barbuda international, but whether Millwall are willing to sell him to one of their most fierce rivals remains to be seen, with Romeo’s potential move to the London Stadium controversial to say the least given the hatred that runs between the two clubs.
