According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, West Ham United are preparing a new move for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

West Ham have allowed Fabian Balbuena to move on, and David Moyes will surely look to bring in a new centre back this summer.

Joe Worrall is one name often linked, but if West Ham look abroad for a new defender this summer, Milenkovic could be their man.

West Ham’s pursuit of Milenkovic

It’s stated that the Hammers submitted a bid of around €25million (£21.5million) last year, and they’re now returning with another offer.

The latest bid is expected to be lower than that bid, but Fiorentina may still sell with Milenkovic now approaching the final year of his contract.

Milenkovic is a huge defender at 6ft 5in tall, possessing great size and strength, but also the ability on the ball to play as a right back when needed.

Tottenham Hotspur also keen?

Tuttosport reported last week that Tottenham want to sign Milenkovic and could launch a double bid for him and teammate Dusan Vlahovic.

New director of football Fabio Paratici knows all about Serie A stars, including Milenkovic, and Tottenham desperately need some defensive reinforcements.

Milenkovic could fit the bill, but with West Ham able to offer Europa League football, they may fancy their chances of beating Tottenham to a deal.
