West Ham United are reportedly willing to sell Pedro Obiang, but have rejected two bids for the Spaniard.
Obiang has enjoyed a decent spell with the Hammers, making 87 appearances in all competitions across three seasons. Unfortunately for the Spaniard, injury has brought a premature end to his involvement in the last two seasons.
And he looks set to face a tougher fight to get into Manuel Pellegrini’s plans for next season, with the Irons confirming on Monday that they have signed Jack Wilshere following his release from Arsenal earlier this summer.
Perhaps sensing that his opportunities are likely to be limited next term, West Ham are reportedly willing to consider selling Obiang this summer, and there appears to be no shortage of takers.
Sky Sports reports on their live transfer blog (09/07; 17:58) that Fiorentina and Atalanta have seen bids rejected for Obiang, while Villarreal are also monitoring the situation. It remains to be seen if the Irons have further offers to respond to.
If the two sides who have already bid do come back in, it would perhaps be little surprise if a move to either appealed to Obiang given that he spent seven years in Italy on Sampdoria’s books having left Atletico Madrid at the age of 16.
Similarly however, moving back to his home country and joining Villarreal would appear to be a tempting option for the 26-year-old if it becomes clear that he may be in for a frustrating season if he sticks around at the London Stadium.
