Roma have reportedly failed with a move to sign West Ham winger Sofiane Feghouli.

According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Roma’s loan bid for West Ham United winger Sofiane Feghouli has failed – but they won’t give up their pursuit of him just yet.

Feghouli, 27, was seen as something of a coup for the Hammers when he penned a three-year deal with the club after his Valencia contract had expired.

With 31 goals in 202 games for Valencia, Feghouli impressed in Spain, and arrived at the London Stadium with high expectations – but he has hit just one goal and one assist for the Hammers in 15 appearances, and has endured a difficult start to 2017.

After being sent off against Manchester United last week, Feghouli then remarkably missed an open goal from a matter of yards out during Friday’s 5-0 home defeat to Manchester City – and Feghouli may be on his way out of East London.

Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzi reports that Roma have made an offer to take Feghouli on loan, and whilst that first bid has been rejected, the Serie A side have no intention of giving up their pursuit.

Roma will lose star winger Mohamed Salah to the Africa Cup of Nations, as he’ll represent Egypt, whilst they’ve also loaned out wide man Juan Iturbe to Torino, leaving Spalletti short of options on the flanks.

With Feghouli surprisingly left out of the Algeria squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, he’s a viable option for Roma, despite his struggles with West Ham.

It’s added that Feghouli himself is ‘strongly determined’ to join Roma, and with Spalletti’s side looking to continue their interest in the winger, we may not have heard the last of this transfer tale.
