West Ham United have reportedly rejected an offer from an unnamed club for Aaron Cresswell.
According to a report from Football London, West Ham have rejected an approach from an unnamed club for Aaron Cresswell with Manuel Pellegrini determined to hold onto the Englishman this summer.
The 29-year-old has arguably had a mixed time with the Hammers. He was brilliant during his first few years with the Irons, but his form dipped for long enough that plenty of fans seemed to write him off.
Cresswell showed signs of being back towards his old self this past season. And that is perhaps why he appears to have attracted interest in recent times.
Football London reports that an unnamed club made an approach for the former Ipswich Town star, but West Ham rejected that bid with Pellegrini keen to keep him and Arthur Masuaku next season.
There may well be some Hammers supporters who would like the club to be open to offers for Cresswell – who earns £50,000-a-week at the London Stadium, according to Spotrac. But if Pellegrini is working with a modest budget this summer, then holding onto the defender makes a lot of sense.
Unless the offer is eye-watering, it is going to be difficult for West Ham to secure a much better player without taking a large bite out of Pellegrini’s budget.
Left-back is not a pressing concern this summer, so it is not surprising that the Hammers have no interest in making it one.
