Swansea City are reportedly keen on signing the West Ham United forward.
The Hammers have rejected a £14 million bid from the Swans for Andrew Ayew, according to the Telegraph, and will hold out for somewhere near the £20.5 million they paid for him 18 months ago.
The Welsh club are expected to make an improved proposal for the 28-year-old, however, as Carlos Carvalhal looks to bolster his attacking options at the Liberty Stadium.
Ayew has played a peripheral role for West Ham this season, making just nine Premier League starts, as he continues to struggle to live up to the hype that surrounded him following his £20.5 million switch from Swansea in the summer of 2016.
The Ghana international still has a lot to offer at the very highest level, though, and a return to his former club might just help breath fire back into his stuttering career.
The Telegraph claim that the east London outfit will be willing to do business should Swansea make an offer of around £18 million for Ayew, and in today’s ludicrously inflated transfer market, that actually represents decent value.
With just 10 days remaining before the transfer window slams shut, this will certainly be one for both Hammers and Swans fans to keep a close eye on.
