According to Calciomercato, West Ham are interested in Daniele Rugani as David Moyes seeks cover for Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna.
What’s the story?
Well, Calciomercato believe Zouma will be out for months after damaging his hamstring in the 3-2 win over Chelsea.
In Ogbonna’s case, the Italian suffered a serious knee injury during the 3-2 win over Liverpool, and has been ruled out for the season.
That leaves Moyes with Craig Dawson and Issa Diop as his only natural options, although Declan Rice can also play there if need be.
Calciomercato believe Juventus will not sell Rugani, but would be open to a loan deal involving the 27-year-old.
It seems the 7-cap Italy international is surplus to requirements in Turin, as he’s only made three appearances this season.
West Ham have wanted Daniele Rugani before

This rumour could have legs, as West Ham have actually expressed an interest in the Lucca-born defender before.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Irons wanted Rugani in 2020, with the east Londoners and Newcastle said to hold a strong interest in him.
Clearly, it was fairly strong, as West Ham are still keeping tabs on the Juventus No.24 even to this day.

In our view, Rugani would be a fine option as cover on a short-term loan deal until the summer.
He boasts Champions League experience, and is also a five-time Serie A champion, so he should have a winning mentality engrained in him.
Will the Hammers finally get their hands on Rugani? Only time will tell.
