West Ham United are set to be without Jack Wilshere for an extended period of time.

According to The Mirror, West Ham United’s Jack Wilshere has been ruled out until 2019 after picking up yet another injury – and Manuel Lanzini may miss the rest of the season too.

The Hammers are in fine form right now having picked up a fourth win in a row, beating Fulham 2-0 at Craven Cottage on Saturday evening.

Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping to keep that run going over the busy Christmas period, but he will seemingly have to do it all without midfielder Wilshere.

The Mirror report that Wilshere’s latest injury will keep him out for at least five weeks, meaning his 2018 is over, and it’s the news everybody was dreading at the London Stadium.

When West Ham signed Wilshere from Arsenal over the summer, the general consensus was that his injury problems were too concerning despite his talent.

Wilshere now hasn’t started a game since the 1st of September, and has only appeared once as a substitute since then too, picking up an assist against Newcastle earlier this month after coming off the bench.

Staff and fans will have been dreading this news, and with Carlos Sanchez also out injured, Pellegrini’s options in the middle of the park don’t look too good right now.

Additionally, it’s claimed that playmaker Manuel Lanzini may miss the rest of the season despite hopes that he would be back in February, with the major knee injury he suffered on international duty with Argentina in the summer ruling him out.

Manuel Lanzini of West Ham United returns to Rush Green to continue his Re Hab on September 12, 2018 in Romford, England.
