According to a report from The Sun, West Ham have received a bid of £10 million from Borussia Monchengladbach for Reece Oxford after the defender’s loan spell with the Bundesliga side was cut short.

Oxford joined the German side for the season in the summer, but that loan deal was terminated towards the end of last year. Nevertheless, The Sun reports that David Moyes is not planning to use the 19-year-old regularly anytime soon as he looks to experience to help guide the team away from trouble.

The Sun adds that Oxford would prefer to spend the rest of the season on loan with Gladbach, but it appears that they would be keen to just sign the teenager on a permanent basis.

According to The Sun, the Bundesliga outfit have wasted little time following the opening of the January transfer window, and have now made a £10 million bid for the youngster and they are now awaiting West Ham’s response to that offer.

Though Moyes seemingly does not view Oxford as a player that he wants to use regularly during the coming months, it would not be a surprise if a large portion of the West Ham supporters were urging the club to turn down the eight-figure bid.

Oxford clearly boasts a significant amount of potential, and it would undoubtedly be extremely difficult to accept if the club did accept the bid and the fans had to watch him realise that potential elsewhere and leave the Irons kicking themselves for letting him go.
