West Ham United are reportedly keen on Leganes star Gabriel Pires.
Gabriel Pires of CD Leganes is tackled by David Garcia of CA Osasuna
According to Spanish newspaper AS, West Ham United are exploring ways to sign Leganes playmaker Gabriel Pires – but the La Liga side aren’t keen to sell.
The Hammers have enjoyed something of an upturn in form under David Moyes, but after claiming just one point from games against Newcastle and Bournemouth, Moyes may still be hoping for reinforcements in January.
With the transfer window fast approaching, West Ham appear to be in the market for a new midfielder, and whilst Sevilla’s Steven N’Zonzi appears to be a target, a new link has emerged with a La Liga playmaker.

Spanish newspaper AS report that West Ham are interested in signing Leganes star Gabriel Pires, and are exploring two routes to try and sign the Brazilian next month.
It’s claimed that West Ham would either want to take Gabriel on loan for €1.9million (£1.7million) with an option to buy for €9million (£8million), or immediately sign him for just €5.5million (£5million), with Leganes unsurprisingly reluctant to accept either deal.
The former Juventus ace has a €20million (£17.75million) release clause in his contract, and with Leganes adamant that their star midfielder isn’t leaving in the middle of the season, the Hammers may need to meet that release clause to land him.

Gabriel, 24, hit five goals and two assists for Leganes last season, whilst he has also notched three goals and one assist this season as he continues to serve as the heartbeat of the Leganes midfield.
With a superb left foot and the ability to play as a holding midfielder where he can dictate the game, Gabriel could be a smart addition for West Ham – but they appear to be some way away from securing a deal.
