Modibo Maiga will be sold by West Ham, but they are holding the deal up for now.
West Ham could still get one last look at Modibo Maiga representing the club.
Maiga is on the verge of a deal to sign with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.
The Times report West Ham have postponed the deal until after this weekend.
They had hoped to bring in a striker but are yet to do so, and a groin strain picked up by Diafra Sakho leaves Maiga as possibly the only option up front if he does not recover.
West Ham are attempting to sign Simone Zaza and Emmanuel Adebayor, the paper report, but there is no guarantee the club will manage to get either, especially in time for the weekend.
Maiga’s brief re-emergence at West Ham has been one of the more surprising aspects of the beginning of the season, but he has not looked up to scratch and it is no surprise they are looking to sell.
West Ham travel to Liverpool this weekend, looking to spring another shock after beating Arsenal, but if Maiga is leading the line then optimism among fans will really be put to the test.
