West Ham United are reportedly close to landing Mario Husillos as their new head of recruitment.
According to The Guardian, West Ham United are poised to snap up Malaga’s Mario Husillos as their new head of recruitment, reuniting him with Manuel Pellegrini.
The Hammers swooped to land Pellegrini as their new manager last week, landing the Chilean as David Moyes’ replacement in an ambitious move.
Pellegrini will be backed with money to bring in new signings this summer, and he now looks set to be given help in the transfer market.
The Guardian report that West Ham are now set to land a new head of recruitment, with Malaga’s Mario Husillos allegedly poised for a move to the London Stadium.
Husillos, 59, worked with Pellegrini at Malaga during the 2012-13 season, and the pair look set for a reunion in East London as West Ham prepare their summer transfer business.
The Argentinian left his post in 2013 when Pellegrini moved on to Manchester City, but returned just months later, before again leaving for Olympiacos in 2017, and then returning to Malaga again in October.
Husillos’ record with Malaga wasn’t exactly stellar as the club struggled to work with their limited budget, but he is clearly a trusted figure for Pellegrini heading into the market.
With links to Genoa’s Armando Izzo and Barcelona’s Marlon Santos rife, West Ham may be getting to work earlier ahead of Husillos’ imminent arrival.
