West Ham United are reportedly keen on Leicester City’s Eduardo Macia.
According to The Sun, West Ham United are interested in raiding Leicester City for head of recruitment Eduardo Macia this summer.
The Hammers are enduring a nightmare right now having lost four of their last five games, leaving them two points clear of the relegation zone and in real danger of slipping into the second tier.
Amid questions over his recent deals, co-owner David Sullivan – who has essentially been operating as the club’s director of football – will be taking a back seat this summer whether West Ham are relegated or not, with a new director of football set to arrive.
Now, it’s claimed that West Ham have set their sights on Leicester chief Macia, and could launch a move to lure the Spaniard to East London this summer.
Macia, 43, started out working with Rafael Benitez at Valencia and Liverpool, before heading on to Olympiacos, Fiorentina and Real Betis, before eventually joining Leicester in 2016.
Since his appointment, Leicester have made a host of impressive signings, such as Harry Maguire, Wilfred Ndidi, Adrian Silva and even Macia’s fellow Spaniard Vicente Iborra.
Over the years, Macia has been credited with playing parts in Liverpool signing the likes of Fernando Torres and Raheem Sterling, as well as signing Javier Mascherano from West Ham (The Mirror), whilst he landed Rafael van der Vaart for Real Betis too.
West Ham would absolutely need to stay in the Premier League to stand a chance of landing Macia, and even then, heading from one top flight team to another seems difficult to imagine – but if David Gold and the aforementioned Sullivan offer up big money to the Spaniard, then he may just be tempted by the challenge at the London Stadium.
