West Ham United have reportedly joined Watford and West Brom in the race for Montpellier’s Steve Mounie.
Steve Mounie
According to The Mirror, West Ham United have joined the race to land Montpellier striker Steve Mounie, battling Watford and West Bromwich Albion for his signature.
The Hammers look set to be in the market for new signings this summer, and whilst Pablo Zabaleta is a strong addition to the back line, another striker is certainly needed.
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic
Manager Slaven Bilic wanted firepower last summer, but additions such as Jonathan Calleri and Simone Zaza did little to help West Ham’s search for goals.
The search will be back on this summer, and The Mirror claim that West Ham have now entered the race to sign Montpellier striker Steve Mounie.

Mounie, 22, has come up through the ranks with Montpellier having arrived in 2009, and he impressed out on loan with Nimes last season, hitting 11 goals in 33 games.
The Benin international striker excelled back with Montpellier this past season, smashing 14 goals in 35 games to become one of the most in-demand strikers in French football this summer.

Standing at 6ft 3in tall and possessing great strength and aerial ability, Mounie could be a focal point for West Ham both for now and in the future, given Andy Carroll’s injury problems.
However, with Watford and West Brom also believed to be interested, West Ham will have to move quickly this summer if they are to prise Mounie away from Montpellier to boost their attacking options.
