According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United aren’t keen on handing a new contract to striker Andy Carroll – but have yet to communicate a decision to him.

The Hammers are facing a big summer as they attempt to continue their squad overhaul under Manuel Pellegrini, with many players no doubt heading for the exit.

Arthur Masuaku, Pedro Obiang and Lucas Perez are just some of the players expected to move on this summer, and striker Carroll should also be joining them in leaving the London Stadium.

Carroll, 30, was signed permanently by Sam Allardyce in 2014 after a decent loan spell, and whilst he has scored 34 goals in 142 games for the Hammers, his time has been marred by injury.

The giant striker has suffered yet another injury, meaning his season is over – and he may well have played his final game for West Ham given that his contract expires this summer.

The Daily Mail report that West Ham are planning to let Carroll go as things stand, but have yet to tell Carroll that his contract won’t be renewed.

That may well be a discussion for a later date, closer to the summer transfer window, but it seems that Carroll’s injury-hit time at West Ham is coming to an end, freeing up a huge chunk of cash from the wage bill.
