West Ham United are planning a new bid for Slavia Prague midfielder Lukas Masopust which could reach up to £8 million, according to Czech publication iSport.

Slavia must know exactly how the likes of Monaco, Atletico Madrid and Dortmund were feeling.

After storming to the title in 2019/20, the capital club are now facing an even bigger challenge – fending off the vultures who are circling over the Sinobo Stadium.

The likes of Leeds United, Southampton and Brighton have been linked with some of Slavia’s star players of late while West Ham have already signed their influential captain Tomas Soucek.

According to iSport, there is a very real chance that Masopust will reunite with Soucek before the transfer deadline in October.

West Ham have already seen a £4 million bid rejected for the Czech international but are now formulating another offer – one which, with bonuses added in, would set the Hammers back around £8 million.

iSport go so far as to claim that Masopust ‘will join (Soucek) in the Premier League’ before the summer is out.

A hard-working right-sided midfielder, the 27-year-old produced seven goals and five assists in 2019/20 and would offer a different option to the left-footed Andriy Yarmolenko or Jarrod Bowen on the wing.

Masopust’s agent, Pavel Paska, told eFotbol in August that West Ham were indeed interested in his client; as well as the new Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick.

“(Moyes) asked me about Patrik Schick and Lukas Masopust, but also about some other players. He wanted to know what Patrik looked like at the moment, he was also interested in Lukas,” Paska says.

“I said that it would be good for him (Masopust) and me (to go to West Ham). I’m glad I opened the door. Lukas Masopust would deserve a transfer and I would very much like it. He’s a great football player and a great boy.”
