Report: West Ham open talks with prolific French wonderkid Alexandre Mlinde

In a window dominated by attacking French wonderkids, another could be on his way to West Ham United.

Alexandre Mlinde may not be a household name in England. He may not be the player capable of rectifying West Ham’s nightmare start to the season.

But the teen sensation would still represent a hugely exciting signing for The Hammers with just one day to go before the close of the transfer window.

According to Foot Mercato, the 17-year-old’s stunning performances for French minnows AS Minguettes, an amateur side based in a suburb of Lyon, have been enough to pique the interest of one of the Premier League’s most historic clubs.

The report claims that West Ham have opened talks with Mlinde’s representatives, meaning a move to the London Stadium could be on the cards for a young striker with a frankly fearsome goalscoring record.

In 22 games for Minguettes last season, Mlinde found the back of the net on 21 occasions. He plundered a staggering 35 the campaign prior. Therefore, it is little surprise that he has caught the eye of scouts across the continent.

However, it appears that West Ham are in pole position.

Considering the remarkable rise enjoyed by some of France’s most high-profile young talents in recent times, Kylian Mbappe (above) and Ousmane Dembele to name but two, The Hammers may be making an inspired decision attempting jump the queue for Mlinde.

The prolific forward will likely be forced to prove his worth in the club’s development squad for the time being, however, where he will hope to form an exciting relationship with young Spanish striker Toni Martinez and playmaking wonderkid Domingos Quina.
