According to Sky Sports, West Ham United have opened talks with Chelsea over a deal to sign striker Loic Remy on loan.

Remy, 29, is down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, currently sitting behind Diego Costa and new signing Michy Batshuayi – and he may now look to leave Antonio Conte’s men in search of first-team football.

The French hitman has proven himself in the Premier League before, scoring 14 goals in 26 games for Newcastle during the 2013-14 season, and he’s scored 12 goals in 47 appearances for Chelsea, with most of those coming as a substitute.

Formerly of QPR, Remy should now be looking for first-team football, and with just a week to go until the transfer deadline, the striker could be heading from West to East London.

Sky Sports report this evening that West Ham have opened talks with Chelsea over a deal to take Remy on loan, with Slaven Bilic in desperate need of attacking reinforcements.

Andy Carroll and Andre Ayew are both out injured right now, and whilst Jonathan Calleri has signed from Deportivo Maldonado, there are questions over the long-term futures of both Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia.

A striker arriving on loan appears to be the best solution for West Ham, and Remy would be a smart target considering his goalscoring record in the Premier League when given a run of regular first-team football.

Chelsea are believed to prefer a sale, but are at least open to letting Remy leave on loan – and having opened talks this evening, West Ham are the hot favourites to land the goalscorer’s signature.
