According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United promised to up Dimitri Payet’s wages to £150,000 per week if he continued to impress until Christmas.
The midfielder was in fine form for the Hammers last season, with a series of impressive performances after arriving from Marseille.
He was rewarded for his first season in England with a new five-year deal in February that saw his wages rise to £125,000-per-week, making him the club’s highest paid player.
He then went on to impress for France at Euro 2016, playing a key role as they made it to the final of the tournament.
His performances sparked speculation about his future, with the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain both linked with potential moves.
West Ham obviously do not want to lose their star man and according to the Daily Mail made him another big offer to ensure he stays.
According to the newspaper they offered to increase his wages to £150,000 per week, so long as he continued to impress until Christmas this year.
So far he has failed to do that, with a series of inconsistent performances as the Hammers have struggled, sitting 17th in the table after 11 games.
The deal is still on the table, though, and he could yet be rewarded with the increase should his performances pick up in the coming months.
