West Ham United want to sign Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker

90min have reported that West Ham have “made noises” about Walker, who is not guaranteed a place in the Manchester City starting lineup.

Aston Villa and Sheffield United have also been linked with the England international right-back, who cost City £50 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2017 (The Guardian).

90min have added that the Hammers are keen on City midfielder Kalvin Phillips as well.

Summer transfer unlikely

In our view, West Ham United are unlikely to be able to sign Kyle Walker from Premier League rivals Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

Yes, 32-year-old is going to find it hard to play week in and week out for the Citizens, and he could well decide to move on in the summer of 2023.

But, it is hard to see Walker switch to a West Ham side who have been struggling in the Premier League all season.

While the Hammers are now looking likely to escape the dreaded drop to the Championship at thn end of the season, the London club are not going to challenge for major honours in the coming years.

David Moyes’s side have reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League this season, but Walker is used to playing in the latter stages of the UEFA Champions League year after year.
