According to Bleacher Report, West Ham United aren’t interested in accepting a swap deal involving Declan Rice and Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier.

Last month, 90Min reported that Spurs want to sign Rice this summer, and would be willing to offer up Dier plus cash to sign him.

The pair can both play in holding midfield or in central defence, whilst West Ham boss David Moyes coached Dier during their time together at Everton.

A reunion may have ben appealing, but it’s now stated that West Ham have no interest in such a deal. If Tottenham want Rice, they’ll seemingly have to pay up for him.

That seems unlikely to happen given the ongoing pandemic, with Spurs having little money to spend this summer. Alternatively, they could offer another player instead – but who that could be is another matter.

Dier is out of contract in 2021, so Spurs may well want to sell this summer. He had something of a renaissance under Jose Mourinho before the pandemic hit, but they would maybe rather sell this summer rather than risk him leaving for nothing in a year.

West Ham would also no doubt loathe to lose Rice to their London neighbours, with a bitter rivalry between the two sides in recent times.

West Ham may well receive offers for Rice this summer, and the pandemic may make a sale more likely. Tottenham seemingly won’t be his destination though.
