West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing the Lazio ace.
According to a report from Sky Sports Italia, West Ham remain in negotiations with Lazio regarding the possibility of signing Felipe Anderson, but the Hammers will have to double their opening offer if they are to be successful in their pursuit of the Brazilian.
West Ham endured a woeful Premier League campaign last term, after some highly questionable transfer business in the summer of 2017, and the club’s fans have been extremely vocal in their calls for some serious money to be spent this time around.
Enter Felipe Anderson…
The 25-year-old is a key target for the Hammers, according to Sky Sports Italia, but they will need to double their opening offer of €20 million (£17.6 million), if they hope to land the Brazilian ace.
The West Ham owners have been notoriously frugal with their cash during their time in the game, and it seems unlikely that they will stretch to £35 million to bring the Lazio man to the London Stadium.
Common ground will surely need to be found regarding a transfer fee, but with Anderson under contract with Lazio until the summer of 2020, the Italian club are the party who hold all of the cards.
There is still plenty of time left before the transfer window slams shut, however, and if West Ham do manage to bring Anderson to east London, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for them.
