Sevilla are confident of keeping Youssef En Nesyri this month with West Ham United told to pay £35 million for the Morocco international, as reported by Marca.
Well, it looks like Monchi has done it again.
Sevilla’s near-mythical sporting director is famed throughout European football for his almost unrivalled ability to snap up talented youngsters on the cheap before selling them on for an eye-watering profit.
And, just 12 months after Sevilla paid £18 million for the then-Leganes forward, En Nesyri’s transfer value has doubled.
It’s not as though the 23-year-old has set the world alight at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan either. At least, not consistently.
A hat-trick in last week’s 3-2 victory over Real Sociedad highlighted En Nesyri’s capabilities – his searing pace and sharp movement – but he’s managed just nine goals in a further 24 appearances this season.
En Nesyri still squanders far too many chances to justify a staggering £35 million transfer fee. If he had been a little calmer in front of goal it would have been Sevilla, rather than Bayern Munich, lifting the UEFA Super Cup in September.

West Ham, then, can surely find better value in the market with Sevilla demanding a staggering sum for a striker who tends to blow hot and cold?
The Guardian reports the Hammers are unlikely to increase their initial offer of £22.5 million.
Adam Armstrong, Boulaye Dia, Patson Daka, Graziano Pelle, Adam Hlozek and Abdallah Sima have also been linked, while a loan bid for Gaetan Laborde has been rejected by Montpellier.
