According to Milliyet, West Ham United are set to meet with Besiktas tomorrow to discuss a potential deal for midfielder Gary Medel.

The Hammers brought in two central midfielders over the summer in Carlos Sanchez and Jack Wilshere, but both are currently out injured.

That has left Manuel Pellegrini short of options in the heart of midfield, and he now appears to be targeting a midfield he knows well.

Milliyet report that West Ham want to bring in Medel, with Pellegrini knowing plenty about his fellow Chilean as he plots a bid for his compatriot.

It’s claimed that West Ham are set to meet with Besiktas tomorrow to discuss a deal for Medel, with the Hammers keen to get a deal set up quickly to get him training with the side immediately in January.

Medel, 31, joined Besiktas from Inter in 2017, and has earned a reputation over the years for being an aggressive, nasty defensive midfielder who can also play at centre back.

Nicknamed ‘The Pitbull’, Medel could bring more grit to the West Ham midfield, and he has vast experience having racked up 114 caps for Chile.

Pellegrini will be well aware of what Medel can bring, and a deal would see Medel return to the Premier League, over four years since leaving Cardiff City for Inter.
