West Ham United’s bid for Alfie Mawson appears to be stalling.
According to BBC Sport, West Ham United’s bid for Swansea City defender Alfie Mawson is showing ‘little progress’ as the two clubs are locked in talks about a potential deal.
West Ham have added two new signings this week, with Swansea City goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski and Toulouse defender Issa Diop both arriving to join Ryan Fredericks at the London Stadium.
Manuel Pellegrini is being backed with new signings, and the Hammers are still hoping to get more deals over the line, including one for another Swansea player in Alfie Mawson.
However, BBC Sport report that talks between the two clubs are stalling, with ‘little progress’ made as the Hammers attempt to bring the central defender back to London.
Mawson, 24, has impressed for Swansea since his 2016 move from Barnsley, but with the Swans suffering relegation to the Championship, West Ham have been attempting to offer him a return to the Premier League.
However, West Ham may now miss out on Mawson unless they can get talks moving in the right direction again, and fans are also concerned about the progress of a deal for Lazio winger Felipe Anderson.
Mixed signals are emerging; Football.London report that there is still plenty of work to do on a deal for Anderson as the two clubs are haggling over a fee, which has become common for West Ham in recent years, whilst The Telegraph claim that the Hammers remain confident of striking a £35million deal.
Landing both would give Pellegrini two more impressive additions, but missing out on the pair when talks are so advanced would be a major blow – and the Hammers must work around the clock this week to ensure they don’t miss out on two top targets.
