West Ham United are reportedly hoping to sign Miguel Layun this summer.
According to Marca, West Ham United are made their first move to sign Porto defender Miguel Layun by asking his agents about a deal.
The Hammers are staying in the Premier League after a 2-0 win at Leicester City over the weekend, and whilst it still remains to be seen whether David Moyes stays on as manager, plans may be underway for new signings.
Defensive reinforcements will certainly be required, and with questions over the future of Sam Byram, another full back could be on the radar, with one player adept on both sides allegedly targeted.
Marca report that West Ham are interested in signing Porto full back Miguel Layun, and have made their first move to sign him by contacting his agents ahead of the summer transfer window.
Layun, 29, made his name in his native Mexico with Veracruz and America, before a brief spell in England with Watford in 2015, but he starred with Porto having hit 11 goals in 79 games.
The defender joined Sevilla on loan in January, and whilst it’s claimed that they can activate a €5million (£4.5million) purchase clause, the report adds that West Ham are prepared to pay the same fee.
Layun would be a bargain addition at that price, and the report even claims that West Ham striker Javier Hernandez – an international teammate of Layun – is attempting to aid the deal by trying to persuade Layun to head to East London.
That would be a surprise given questions over Hernandez’s own future, though he may feel more settled with one of his noted friends being at the club too, with Layun also effective on the pitch as a full back on either side.
