According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, West Ham United have made an offer to sign Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic.
It’s claimed that the Hammers have made first contact with Napoli, and they could now settle on a deal to send the Serbian to England.
Fulham are also in contact with Napoli, but they are focusing on Barcelona’s Jean-Clair Todibo, meaning West Ham are favourites to sign him.
Maksimovic, 28, impressed with Red Star Belgrade and Torino, but has only managed 73 appearances for Napoli since his 2016 move.
A huge centre back at 6ft 4in tall, Maksimovic is strong and impressive in the air, whilst he has picked up 25 caps for Serbia.
Maksimovic is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning West Ham may feel they can secure a cut-price deal for the defender as David Moyes desperately seeks to improve his back line.

If West Ham fans aren’t too convinced, then Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti may be able to ease some concerns based on his praise when he worked with Maksimovic at Napoli.
Ancelotti called Maksimovic ‘excellent’ in 2018, with TuttoNapoli quoting him as saying that Maksimovic has no problems playing as a right or left-sided centre back – and that ringing endorsement should please West Ham fans.
