According to Sassuolo News, West Ham United have made an offer for Sassuolo defender Mert Muldur – but it’s some way short of the asking price.
It’s claimed that West Ham have come forward with a first bid for the right back in the hope of bringing him to East London.
However, they have only offered €7million for Muldur, which is around £6million.
Sassuolo would sell Muldur this summer, but only for double the price, seeking around €14million (£12million) for the Turkish international.
Sassuolo do have a potential replacement in mind already, as they are keen to sign Empoli right back Stefano Sabelli if Muldur moves on.
West Ham will need to come back with a better offer if they want to sign Muldur, especially with Tottenham Hotspur also interested in signing him.
The Daily Mail claimed earlier this month that Tottenham fancy signing Muldur, with Fabio Paratici a big fan from his time in Italy.
West Ham have attempted to get in first with a low-ball bid, and they will now have to hope that Tottenham don’t come in with a better one soon.
Muldur, 21, joined Sassuolo from Rapid Vienna in 2019. He has made 52 Serie A appearances, recording two goals and four assists. Muldur even featured for Turkey at Euro 2020 this summer, playing as a left back rather than a right back, showcasing his versatility – which West Ham and Tottenham may love.
