According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United have made a bid of £120,000 for Lincoln City centre back Sean Raggett, in a bid to beat West Bromwich Albion to his signature.

The Hammers will be looking for reinforcements this summer after a disappointing season, in which they finished 11th in the Premier League table, a huge 16 points adrift of seventh-placed Everton.

Slaven Bilic may have a number of areas that he wants to strengthen, and adding a younger centre back to challenge Winston Reid, Jose Fonte and James Collins could be a priority during this summer’s transfer window.

Now, the Daily Mail report that West Ham have submitted a bid of £120,000 for Lincoln City defender Sean Raggett, in the hope of beating a number of clubs in the race to sign him.

Raggett, 23, had spells with Gillingham and Dover before joining Lincoln in 2016, and he hit seven goals in 47 appearances in all competitions this season, impressing throughout the Imps’ promotion-winning campaign.

It was in the FA Cup that Raggett hit the headlines though, as he famously scored the winning goal in Lincoln’s 1-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor, sending Lincoln in the quarter-finals of the competition.

An uncompromising 6ft 5in centre back, Raggett has been hailed as one of Lincoln’s better players, and whilst he is stepping up from non-league with Lincoln anyway, a move even higher up the pyramid could be in the offing.

West Ham want to lure Raggett to the Premier League with a £120,000 bid, though it’s noted that West Bromwich Albion have already offered £100,000, whilst League One sides Oxford United and Peterborough United are also preparing bids, with West Ham now hoping to steal a march on their rivals.
